Battle Creek Public Schools Elementary & High School

Battle Creek,

The Battle Creek Elementary and High School improvements included a series of additions and renovations designed to expand educational opportunities, modernize facilities, and enhance student and staff experiences across the campus. At the high school, a 6,500-square-foot agricultural addition was constructed on the west side of the building, featuring a large classroom, changing room and restrooms, a spacious shop/lab with welding booths, and a livestock area built to accommodate cattle. The high school track was also upgraded with a new post-tensioned running surface laid over the existing track. Additional field event areas were constructed, including long jump and triple jump runways with sand pits, a pole vault area, four discus throw rings, two practice shotput rings, and one competition shotput ring with a dedicated landing area.

At Battle Creek Elementary, a 1,600-square-foot administrative addition was built on the south side of the existing school to create a secure new main entrance, corridor, receptionist desk, nurse’s office, principal’s office, and an additional office space. This area also houses a new fire pump that supports the newly installed fire suppression system throughout both the addition and the original school building. Renovations within the elementary school totaled 14,200 square feet and included the transformation of an old garage/shop into a new Special Education classroom, full upgrades to two 5th and two 6th grade classrooms, and the installation of new student lockers along the corridor. Two outdated locker rooms were converted into a teacher work/breakroom, P.E. storage area, and two smaller changing rooms. Corridors throughout the renovated spaces received new flooring, tile wainscoting, and fresh paint, completing the modernization of the facility.
