The new 146,000-square-foot Beatrice Elementary School was designed to support seven sections of grades PK–5 in a dynamic, two-story layout. The building features 10 Pre-K classrooms, 36 K–5 classrooms, a full-size gymnasium with basketball and volleyball capabilities and retractable bleachers, band, choir, and art rooms, and open-concept libraries and media centers on both levels. Two innovation centers foster creativity and hands-on learning.
A large steel and precast concrete grand staircase anchors the core of the school, along with a signature spiral slide connecting the second level to the first. The building also includes a FEMA-rated community storm shelter integrated into the Pre-K wing, a fenced-in outdoor play area, and a high-efficiency geothermal well field paired with a water-source heat pump HVAC system.
