As part of an expanded K–8 campus, the new South Middle School for Bennington Public Schools is a 126,927-square-foot, single-story facility designed to support academic, athletic, and community needs. The school features a modern exterior that blends brick fascia with a metal panel system, creating a distinctive architectural identity. Inside, academic wings house separate classroom areas for each grade, along with multiple science classrooms, vocational and general learning spaces, a large commons area, media center, and two full-size gymnasiums.
The site also includes a comprehensive athletic complex. Two full-size football fields were constructed—one of which includes an eight-lane track with a long jump pit, shot-put and discus zones, and a 500-seat outdoor bleacher with full field lighting for spectators. Additional practice fields support physical education and extracurricular programming, completing a well-rounded campus for middle school students.
